Karl Ferris was there to record it all, photographing many of the shows and stars, as well as shooting 6 record album covers in that memorable 1967 summer alone, for Jimi Hendrix, Donovan, and the Hollies.
But the June 4th 1967 concert featured in this poster was perhaps one of the most memorable of the Saville's nights, with Hendrix smashing his guitar on stage for the first time. The shattered pieces that he threw to the audience can now be found as the prime Jimi Hendrix memorabilia exhibit at the Experience Music Project Museum in Seattle.
Also on the bill that night, making their debut appearance, were Procol Harum, as well as the Electric String Band and the Chiffons.
This rare, historic poster is available as a limited edition print.

Jimi Hendrix Lost "Jimi Hendrix At The Saville Theatre" Poster
Lost "Jimi Hendrix At The Saville Theatre" Poster Now Available Finally, after 35 years , the ultra rare 1967 "Jimi Hendrix At The Saville Theatre" poster is now available in limited quantities. Reprinted from the original art work, high quality custom printed on heavy stock, supervised by the photographer/designer Karl Ferris.
Originally commisioned by Brian Epstein, the Saville's owner and, famously, the Beatles' manager, the poster features the well-known psychedelic "Fisheye" photograph of the band taken by Karl Ferris, the Saville's "House photographer" at the time, as well as lettering that was later used on the album cover for the Jimi Hendrix Experience's first US album "Are you experienced".
During the summer of 1967, the Saville Theatre was THE place for live music in London. A former opera theatre, its boxes were reserved for rock royalty -- the Beatles, the Rolling Stones, Donovan, Jimi Hendrix among them -- who would show up to watch other hot acts of the time.
